I'm 26 years old and I am unashamed to say that I wanted this book for my own amusement. The English version of Sailor Moon was one of my favorites because of the hilarious dialogue, voices and all around vibe of the show. Granted, the Japanese one focused on her growth and the amazing relationships but this book brings me back to the days of watching this on VHS, I could hear every line in my head in the voices! A Sailor Moon fan young or old would love this if they love Sailor Moon in general, not just the new one.Tags : Sailor Moon: A Scout Is Born [Stuart J. Sailor Moon A Scout Is Born Stuart J Levy Naoko Takeuchi 9781892213112 Books Reviews
I love this book! It's great for people who love comedy,romance,and action. Serena (Usagi) is really explained to you in this book. How she's lazy and I hate to say stupid. You see how she improves herself from the beginning of the book to the ending of the book. I'm a real big fan of Sailor Moon and anime and if you are to you should try out this book! It's laugh-out-loud funny!
Let me prelude my review by stating that I am a very purist Sailor Moon fan. The American forms of most Sailor Moon products usually infuriate me, such as the dub of the show, the movies, and the manga (comic). I speak Japanese, and the translations of the show on television and the VHS movies are horrible! This is mainly because the show was intended for adults and teens in Japan, but in America it is intended for children. Therefore, some of the complexity of the story lines and some of the deep love and emotion is lost, but the story of Sailor Moon, or Tsukino Usagi (Serena, for the dubbies) is still wonderful. To any adult or teen fan of Sailor Moon, I recommend the DVD versions of the movies (where you can watch the subtitled Japanese version) and the Mixx manga translations (which are quite good, at least as good as English can be translated from Japanese). This book is simplified greatly, and the characters are far more archetypical; therefore I recommend this book not to die-hard SM fans, but to young children who love the tv show or who need a new hero.
I loved this when I was 9. I mean, I ate this up! Couldn't put down the entire set of these books. Heck, I even got them lined up on my shelf to this day next to the entire manga collection. But now, at the ripe old age of 21, I realized the error of my ways. This tripe was made for little American girls, who don't know the first thing about how truly wonderful the original version of the Sailor Moon series is. Sure, read this if you are a die-hard fan and you gobble up anything to do with our favorite ladies. But for the love of god, don't take this seriously and DON'T consider this as the "true" Sailor Moon.
I have a tremendous amount of respect for the purists where it comes to Sailor Moon, however they do not leave room for the average Sailor Moon viewer Who watches the show on TV. I read this book to my five year old and we loved it. It was a way for her to get a little bit more information on the characters she loves, and a different medium in which to enjoy the tales. I would highly recommend this book to any young fan, especially those early in their Sailor Moon quest. The book helps to blend the Dic version of Sailor Moon with the more pure version my daughter is just begining to learn about. GOOD READ!
I personally think this better than the anime. However, I can't say that about the uncut version because I've never seen it before. But I guess thta's the point of . com sharing your opinions with other people.
First episode
Luna gives Serena her "sm" brooch and she defeats Jedite's first monster who steals energy through jewelry.
Second episode{japanese}
Melvin goes to a fortune teller who is really a monster in disguise and makes him and alot of other people evil.
Third episode
People who get their letters read on a radio station... fall asleep.
love it
If you love the sailor moon American cartoons this is perfect. It's exactly like the cartoon, but gives you better visuals of things. Very cute book, love it.
